As is tradition in Argentina on the 29th of every month, Cristina’s dear family friends Walter and Ana O’brien celebrated a dinner of ñoquis (gnocchis) with Steven as they had many times with Cristina.
Dear Cris,
Yesterday June 30th we had our ñoquis dinner at home with the company of Steven. As you had said many times “…on some occasions one day before or one day after doesn’t make the difference!” I cooked one of your favorite pasta dishes celebrating our belated monthly 29th celebration.
We were chatting without stopping! As always, you became part of the conversation all night. After the dessert we had a relaxing coffee time with some sweets. Steven didn’t want to have coffee so I tried offering him some liqueur. At that moment it came to my memory the Galliano’s bottle you gave to Walter as a gift for one of his birthday celebrations.
I anticipated him that that the liqueur would be very strong. You should have seen how Steven exclaimed when the zip of that liquid traveled through his mouth into his body! I think you would have been laughing with us, seeing Steven’s face expression. He needed to drink a glass of water to turn off the fire inside him. It was very funny.
But the most remarkable story was that when he saw that bottle he also started to laugh because Adriana had been asking him for that specific bottle of liqueur when she didn’t see in its usual place next to the china cabinet when they were cleaning your house.
I also wanted to thank you for the engraved leather maps of Argentina and copper serving dish with images of gauchos that you kept as a treasure and Steven brought to us as a gift.
Well Cris I could keep writing about us, but I’m at work and my free time is almost over. So I have to stop now and I’ll continue writing soon.
Love, Ana
